Coast to Coast 2008 - Social Events
Monday, Welcome Function
The Welcome Function will be held on the evening of Monday 18th August, commencing at 6pm at the Darwin Convention Centre. You can register at this event and will need your ticket for entry. The evening will commence with a performance by the Berrimah Indigenous dancers.
Tuesday, Crocs & Sarongs
Tuesday night will be a Crocs & Sarongs cocktail function at the new Crocosaurus Cove on Mitchell Street. Our function will be one of the first functions at this new and exciting tourist attraction in the middle of Darwin city. This evening will also be the launch of the Australian Coastal Society by Prof. Bruce Thom. So, swap your southern suits for tropical attire, your winter Guinness and rum for some ice cold beer and cocktails and enjoy this unique evening of crocodiles and fun!
Wednesday, Gala Conference Dinner
Wednesday evening is the Gala Conference Dinner, included in registration costs, at the Darwin Convention Centre. Extra tickets are available for purchase via the registration process or by emailing.

Seeking Dolphins at Sunset tour (select on your registration form)
Casual evening at Mindil Beach Sunset Market.
Tour numbers are limited, and tickets are issued on a 'first to book' basis.
A Sunset Cruise on Darwin Harbour is one of the Top End's 'must do'. Cruise Darwin Harbour while enjoying a local seafood (reef) and beef meal with free red and white wine (BYO also welcome), from the comfort of a modern, fully equipped catamaran. The catamaran offers exceptional stability and 360-degree views, and most sightseeing is done under sail - no smelly fumes, no noise, just you and the harbour!
Demand from conference delegates has expanded the booking to also include 40 places on the Tumlaren, a beautifully restored 20-metre schooner.
Both vessels depart from the Stokes Hill Wharf, near the Convention Centre, at 5:30pm.
Seeking Dolphins at Sunset. Indulge your senses. Feel the warm wind in your face as you unwind, relax and enjoy. Seek out the dolphins in the harbour and find out about the Coastal Dolphin Research Project. Be part of a tropical sunset over the Arafura Sea, sip champagne and experience the sights and sounds of night fish feeding. An ideal ending for the perfect tropical day. Complimentary drink and nibbles included. Additional drinks available at bar prices. Duration: 2 hours: Departs Stokes Hill Wharf 5:30pm.
Some say that Mindil Markets are a 'must do' event for all Territory visitors! With a choice of cuisine from over 20 countries, a plethora of entertainment including live bands, street performers and buskers and of course the usual Mindil Merchandise, there is something for everyone.
A suggestion for Friday evening after the conference is to sit back and relax at the Deck Chair cinema.
